Join the Flotilla

The Reno Flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary is very active.  We teach Boating Safety Educational Classes and On the Water Classes for new boaters that have completed the Boating Safely Class.  We perform Vessel Safety Checks for boaters and conduct Safety Patrols on Lake Tahoe, Lake Lahontan and Pyramid Lake.  Once you are an Auxiliarist you are eligible to take many advanced classes in boating such as Advanced Coastal Navigation, Seamanship, Communications, Weather, Search and Rescue and Patrols.

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is a volunteer organization of 35,000 members nationwide. Since 9-11, the Coast Guard has greatly increased our scope of activities and responsibilities.  They expect a higher level of proficiency from us and our educational activities has greatly increased. In return, we are receiving training and the opportunity to work with the Coast Guard.  They also provide us with state of the art gear required for our duties, unlike other boating organizations.  This year alone, our Crew and Coxswain staff have received Mustang suits, Series 900 Dry Suits, and EPIRBs to use while on patrol. In addition, Station Tahoe has been instrumental in outfitting our Boston Whaler patrol boat with new twin four stroke.

Our members are avid boaters who enjoy learning and teaching all aspects of boating.  Joining the Coast Guard Auxiliary requires a time commitment, but is a great way to do community service, learn more about boating, and serve our Country! Get It From the Source, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary!
